Regular conversations between managers and their direct reports are essential for maintaining employee engagement and job satisfaction. Effective 1-on-1 conversations should be informal, but have some structure. They aren’t status meetings; they’re a time for two people to connect and discuss the wide variety of topics that arise in every workplace. It’s a time to discuss career development and growth, and a chance to make sure that employees are happy and engaged.
At Instant Agenda, we’re making it easier than ever to conduct effective 1-on-1 conversations between employees and their managers with the addition of our new 1-on-1 meeting type. For this type of meeting, all the functionality for tracking actions items, decisions, and notes are still in place, but we’ve removed the voting controls (since there are only two of you).
To help facilitate meaningful discussions during your 1-on-1 meetings, we’ve also added a library of topics to act as conversation starters. These topics cover a variety of subjects that, hopefully, will leading to meaningful conversations:

To make use of the topic library, when adding a topic to your meeting, click the “Select from Library” button in the dialog:
This will open up the topic library, allowing you to select from a wide variety of topics.
Clicking any topic will select it and pre-fill the values into the Add Topic dialog. You can use the topic as-is, or modify it as desired before you create the topic.
